Auto Glass: 01 Toyota Highlander rear left window glass, toyota highlander, bottom of the glass

Question
I am having an issue with a window and thought you may be able to help after reading some of you advice concerning  issues. My right rear window regulator has disengaged from the window. After removing the door panels I found that the "lift channel" has separated from the channel run.
The channel run is still on the bottom of the glass and doesn't appear to have shifted. The lift channel was lying within the door.
Is it possible to re-attach the channel run back to the lift channel? In addition when I power the window regulator up the lift arm looks as if it is not aligned. It jerks to the outboard of the door suddenly as it lifts up. I am sure this outward pressure is the likely culprit of my problem. Is it best to replace the regulator as well?

Answer
Hi Sean,

I am not completely sure I understand your question.  Maybe we just need to clear up the terminology.  Let me take a shot at this based on a few assumptions.

The bottom of the glass should have a metal channel (lift channel) attached to the glass via a rubber "insulator" which covers and protects both sides of the bottom edge of the glass.  If the lift channel is no longer attached to the glass it is possible to re-attach it, but it takes a bit of ingenuity and persistence.

If there is some other metal channel in the bottom of the door, I am not sure what it could be.  Get back to me on this with a follow up question.

I am really perplexed about the regulator arm "jerking" during operation.  Are any of the four 10MM regulator mounting bolts loose or missing?  If the bolts are securely in place, it would be very strange for the regulator arm to do anything but move in a smooth arc from bottom to top and back from top to bottom.  Get back to me on this as well.
