Auto Glass: toyota 2002 highlander rear left window, correct positions, motor assembly

Question
Ben read the post from Pam.  have the same problem (window is off track and the channel on the bottom of the window has moved back).  How do I move the channel back and is there a measurement for where it is supposed to be.  Once i get it back into the correct positions what is the proper way to get the arm back into the channel?  I got it back in but i think that was only because it is in the wrong position.  I am guessing that I have to unbolt the mechanism first?
Thank you,
Mike

Answer
Hi Mike,

I don't have any specific recommendation as to how to move the channel.  You'll just have to use your own creativity to get the glass in a position where you can use a "lever" to move the channel back into position.

I am assuming the black rubber insulator underneath the metal channel has not moved, so you should be able to see an imprint on the rubber insulator of where the channel was originally after you have moved the channel back into place.  Once you have the channel back into position, put a dab of glue on the rubber insulator behind the channel to keep it from sliding back again.

You are correct about having to unbolt (4 10MM bolts) the window regulator/motor assembly to re-install the plastic guide on the end of the regulator arm back in the channel.  Be sure to remove the speaker to give yourself more room to work.  I recommend you press the window switch to lower the arm about 1/2 way down before you remove the assembly.  Then, before you try to reposition the assembly, lower the glass about 1/2 way down and secure the glass with a wedge or some tape before you slide the plastic guide on the end of the regulator arm back in the channel.

Let me know if you have any other questions.
