Auto Glass: Power Window, better business bureau, auto parts stores

Question
2001 Buick Century - Driver's window.  Whenever any work is done involving removing unhooking battery, for a few days each time the ignition is turned on (even b4 starting) the window rolls down automatically.  Then in about 15 seconds or so you can roll it up.  again, however, then the window CANNOT be rolled down. Usually that problem goes away in a few days, but this time it's been almost 3 weeks.  Also, when the problem is not there, you can roll the window down 1 time and then the problem starts over again!!!  It's crazy.  Any ideas that won't cost the moon?  Thanks so much.

Answer
Hello Marcia,

The electronic side of the your power window system is not my area of expertise, so I don't have any specific suggestions about what may be causing the problem you describe.  However, I suspect that your problem involves the BCM (body control module).  I think your best alternative is to find a shop that specializes in automotive electrical work.  If your Yellow Pages or Better Business Bureau doesn't have a category for "Automotive Electrical Repair" I suggest you contact a few of the nearby auto parts stores and ask them if they know of a mechanic who routinely does electrical work.

I must admit that I have never seen anything on any vehicle that is quite like what you describe.  If you do find the answer to your problem, I would really appreciate your sending me a follow up to let me know what was causing this unusual situation.

Sorry I couldn't be more helpful.
