Auto Glass: rear vent window replacement, Hyundia

Question
I have a 2000 hyundai elantra and the rear right passenger vent window was broken out.  I was wondering if you can tell me how to replace it myself? thanks

Answer
Hi Cynthia,

I do not ever remember doing this one yet but most Hyundai vents are the same.

Roll Door Glass Down. Remove all screws holding door panel and remove it.

Remove 2 10mm bolts that hold the vent track that is just after vent glass rubber and before the door glass rubber. Remove the outside door seal rubber just above this vent track and the Phillip screw holding it up. Move the vent track as far away from the vent area as possible.  Now here is where it gets a little tricky,  If you have the room to replace the vent glass WITH THE RUBBER ON IT? Then spray the whole vent and rubber with foamy glass cleaner and Install and then reverse the process above to complete.

If you DO NOT HAVE ROOM, then you must remove the door glass by removing the two 10mm bolts holding it on the window regulator. Once you have the glass out you will have plenty of room to put the vent in!

Remember to clean ALL GLASS out of vent Rubber if only replacing the glass and keeping your rubber. Any glass in this rubber could cause it to blow up!

If you get Stuck on anything Write me at the address below and I will get back ASAP!

                                      Hope This Helps! Derek =D
