Auto Glass: 2003 Kia Sorento: Front & Rear Driver-side windows stop working, kia sorento, 2003 kia sorento

Question
Hi,

Just out of the blue, both the rear and front diver side windows stopped functioning on my 2003 Kia Sorento four door car.  They are both down halfway, and I cannot get them to move, I can't even force them up by hand.  They both stopped functioning at the same time.  I did not hit anything or spill anything or touched anything!  I just parked my car and was rolling up the windows to shut the car down and thats when I realized they were not working.

The two passenger side windows are functioning just fine, even the master keys (the ones at the driver seat) can open and close them.  Please help!

Answer
Hello Michael,

The Kia dealer in my area isn't very successful, so there aren't too many on the road.  Accordingly, I haven't seen this particular problem on a Sorento before.  Two possible causes come to mind.  One is a bad master window switch.  The second is one or more broken wires between the driver door and the body of the car.

Unless you are familiar with how to use a 12V test light or an electrical multimeter, you are going to need the help of an experienced repair person.  If your regular mechanic doesn't routinely deal with power window electrical problems, he can probably recommend someone in your area who specializes in automotive electrical work.

Sorry I can't be more helpful.  Feel free to send a follow up question if you think I can help in some other way.
