Auto Glass: 1996 Cuick Regal Driver window, edge guide, bottom front

Question
Ben,I have a 96 Regal and the actuator roller popped out of the track when the wife tried forcing it down while covered in ice. I have the door inside apart. The actuator and motor both seem to still work fine. I lowered the window and pressed the roller back into the track and greased it. It runs all the way up fine. When lowering, it doesn't come down level near the bottom. The front of the window tips down earlier than the back. If I push the back I can level the window on the way down. Before I button it all back together, is there a second arm or something that I'm missing to help keep the window level?

Answer
Hello Dan,

If you look closely at the bottom front edge and the back top edge of the glass you will notice two plastic "edge guides" glued to the glass.  Both these guides snap into the metal/rubber "run channels" at the front and back of the door.

To put the back edge guide into its channel, lower the glass until it is about 1 or 2 inches above the top of the door panel.  Push the glass back into the rear channel by lifting up on the bottom front edge of the glass while pushing the top back edge into the door channel.

Putting the front edge guide in the front channel is a bit harder, but the procedure is basically the same: with the glass in about the same position, lift up on the front edge of the glass until the plastic guide snaps into the front channel.  If you have difficulty getting the front edge into the front channel, you may need to move the glass almost all the way up and then remove the two 10MM bolts that hold the front channel inside the door.  After removing the front channel you can slide the top edge of the channel onto the glass and then re-install the two bolts to secure the channel.

Feel free to send a follow up question if you are confused by any of this.
