Auto Glass: rear electric window issue, auto parts store, bottom of the glass

Question
I have a 2002 S series Saturn.  The passenger side rear window does not work. It goes up and down with pressure from my hand. I took the panel off and found the plastic piece inside the metal guide that is attached to the bottom of the window broke so it is detached from the regulator. The arm from the regulator should fit into this guide but doesn't because this piece is broken. What piece do I need to buy?  Still the entire regulator? Thanks for your help.

Answer
Hello Steve,

I have seen this problem several times before.

You can replace the guide (roller) on the end of the regulator arm with a part made by "Dorman".  Your local auto parts store should be able to get you either Dorman part number 74430 or 74402.  I believe either one will work on your Saturn.

Just one important comment about the replacement process.  The replacement guide will not slide into the metal channel on the bottom of the glass until you grind flat a small piece of the channel that has been folded up so that the channel stays on the window regulator during assembly and installation.

Let me know if you have any other questions.
