Auto Glass: Subaru Impreza rear stationary window replacement, 100 for both

Question
QUESTION: Hi,
I have a 1993 Subaru Impreza wagon that had both rear stationary windows vandalized. I was wondering how difficult it is to replace these on my own. Looking at the remains of the window, it would appear that the glass sits in the black molding that surrounds the window. And there are bolt type retainers holding the glass in place? How difficult is removing all the interior plastic panels? Special tools? Are there special sealants required?. Any input would be greatly appreciated. The car doesn't have a great deal of value other than that of a decent daily driver. Thanks in advance for your help.

ANSWER: Hi Brian,

The best way to go about this is to get two used windows from the junk yard  and have them installed by a Pro!

The job is not that difficult other than the possibility of over tightening the bolts and blowing up the windows.

The cost of doing it yourself is more than getting it done by a shop.

Shop around for the glass and installation prices until you get the best deal.

You will thank me for this in the end!!!!

QUESTION: Thanks for the advise. two junkies in town. First 75ea. they remove. other, 35 ea. I remove. Worth the extra to have them remove? or just tear through the junkies and unbolt them? Just that simple!...I deal with an auto/glass place quite often. I'll have them quote the job. Thanks for your help!

Answer
Hi Brian,
Do they still charge you if you break one?

Do they have more than one car that you can Practice with LMAO =D

I would have to get the answers to these two questions before I could say it is worth trying to get them out yourself.

If you think You could do it Go for it!!    OR

Tell them you want them to take them both out for 100.00 and you will help carry them to your car! =D

         Hope this Helps!! Derek =D
