Auto Glass: Pontiac Vibe - glass mounting brackets, pontiac vibe, auto parts stores

Question
Hi,

The plastic clips that are glued to the drivers side door and bolt to the window regulator are broken.  I called the dealer for the clips and they said they don't sell them separately. I don't want to buy a new window...I just want to replace the clips.  I understand that I have to remove them from the window and reattach them to the glass and I risk breaking the glass, but I want to try it anyway.  Everywhere I have checked, they don't sell the clips.  I tried salvage yards, but here in Hawaii...they don't have many Pontiac Vibe parts available.  Would you know anything about getting plastic clips for the Pontiac Vibe.  I would appreciate any sugguestions you have.

Thank you,
Mari

Answer
Hi Mari,

I haven't had much experience repairing the Vibe, so I am not sure which glass bracket GM used on your glass.  There is a GM style bracket available in the aftermarket from a company called Dorman.  Go to the web site "dormanproducts.com" and enter 38480 in the "part number" search box and you will get get a picture of the glass brackets that come in the package.  If this bracket will work on your Vibe, you should be able to get the package from most auto parts stores even if you are in Hawaii.

Let me know if there is anything else I can do to help.
