Auto Glass: broken regulator guide, auto glass shops, search box type

Question
Putting down my passenger side window, the glass rotated counterclockwise and nosedived downward. I removed the door panel and discovered that a 1 inch square plastic socket thing that connected the regulator arm to the channel at the bottom of the window glass had broken and the ball on the arm had popped out of the socket. Can you tell me  what this little plastic connector is called and where I might find a replacement. I certainly don't want to replace the regulator because of what looks like a $2 part.

Answer
Hello Tom,

You didn't tell me the make, model or year of your vehicle so I don't know what "guide" will work in your situation.

Unless your vehicle is a BWM or a Volvo the guide is probably not a dealer item. You can check with a few local auto-glass shops to see what they might have, but most of them don't know how to make repairs, they just replace the entire regulator.

You can also try going on-line at crlaurence.com.  In the yellow "search box" type in the phrase "window guide" and you will see two items that are at least similar to what you are looking for: CP683166 and CP764296.

If you like, you can send a follow up question with more information about your vehicle.  Maybe I can give you another suggestion as well once I know exactly what you are dealing with.
