Auto Glass: WINDOW COME OUT OF TRACK 96 CAMRY, rubber gasket, silicone spray

Question
My electric window in our 96 camry come out of the track when it is 3/4 of the way up the track. The part of the window that come out is the back part. When it is up all the way the back part sticks out side the window track. ANy suggestion that will help keep it in the track?

Answer
Hello Doug,

You didn't indicate which window was the problem so I am going to assume it is the driver's.

First, with the window lowered a few inches, look at the front edge of the glass near the side view mirror.  The glass should be inside the rubber gasket called the "glass run channel."  If the glass is outside the "run channel" and is pinching the channel closed, you have a problem that will require the help of someone who has experience working on power windows.

However, if the glass is in the middle of the "run channel", I suggest you use silicone spray to lubricate the "run channel" all around the window.  Lower the window to the bottom and use enough silicone so that it runs down the "run channel gasket" inside the door. If the glass still doesn't move normally after lubricating you will need help from someone who has power window repair experience.

Feel free to send a follow up question if there is anything else I can help you with.
