Auto Glass: passenger side exterior rear view mirror specifications, crown victoria side mirror glass, convex mirror glass

Question
I was told that the crown victoria (black frame) passenger side mirror was convex and met the federal specs for when
the interior rear view mirror failed to meet specs.  The ROC (radius of curvature)must be at least 889 mm.   I see no curvature on the surface of this mirror nor is the line of sight distorted as you would find in a convex mirror. It appears, by sight, to be a flat mirror. If what I was told is true, then what is the ROC of this OEM mirror?  I can't get this info anywhere, including ford motors.

Thank you very much,

Bo

Answer
Thank you for your question.
During the production years of the Crown Vic from 1983-1991 the passenger side mirror glass as in other makes and models could be flat glass.
In 1992 a safety law was passed for all manufacturers of automobiles in the U.S. which stated all passenger side glass was to be convex (the glass lens surfaces that curve outward) so it have a wider angle of view when looking out your passenger side mirror and have the "Objects are closer than they appear" etched in the glass.
You can view all the OEM replacement glass that was available for the Crown Victoria from 1983 and up by clicking this link:
