Auto Glass: 1999 Chevy Tahoe Power Windows, chevy tahoe, side doors

Question
QUESTION: Hello

My power windows work from the driver's side  master switch but I can work the windows from the front and rear passenger switches.  They all went kaput at once!  I have checked the 'lock-out' feature on the driver's side switch and it is not in the 'lock-out' phase.  What does anyone think?

ANSWER: Hi Brandon,

I suspect that you have a broken wire between the master switch and the passenger side doors.  This type of wire break usually occurs between the driver door and the body of the vehicle inside the rubber "boot" located just above the bottom hinge of the driver door.

I suggest you remove the two passenger side switches from the door panel and check to see if you have 12V power coming into these two switches.  I don't have a wiring diagram handy, but I believe that power in will be on the yellow wire.

Feel free to send a follow up question if you need more help.

So Just to clarify...  I can let the passenger and rear windows down from the master switch on the drivers side, but I can't individually roll the windows done using the passenger and rear door window controls.

And you believe this is due to a broken wire between the master switch and the passenger side doors?

Answer
Hi Again Brandon,

I understand your situation clearly and I confirm my earlier reply.

It is possible that something else is wrong, but I recommend you check for power into each of the single switches before doing any thing else.
