Auto Glass: 2002 Nissan PathFinder driver side window problem, nissan pathfinder, formal answer

Question
QUESTION: Hi Ben, my driver side window has a problem. When I pull the switch completely, the window rolls up automatically as it should. However, once it reaches the top, it reverse down automatically to the midway (about 5" to the top). According to your formal answer to a Camry, it seems to need a motor re-programming. I tried the process you offered in that answer, didn't work. Please give me an advice. Thanks a lot!

ANSWER: Hello Hank,

The Nissan motor has a small button on the side of the motor case that is used to "reset" the motor.  You must remove the door panel to access the button.

Here is the Nissan power window motor resetting procedure:

1.  Close the window completely using the manual mode on the switch button. Then press the reset switch on the window motor and hold it.

2.  Open the window completely using the manual mode on the switch button and release the reset button on the motor.

This procedure should get your window functioning normally again.  However, there are times when it does not work and the motor must be replaced.

QUESTION: Thank you Ben! Very clear answer. How ever, I don't have enough confidence to remove the door panel by myself without
breaking any clips. Do you have a step by step procedure for removing a driver side door panel of a 2002 Pathfind? Or any links about that? Thank you so very much!

Answer
Hello Hank,

I don't think you will find any specific information about removing the door panel on your Pathfinder.  My quick search on Google didn't turn up anything worthwhile.

As door panels go, it is not too hard to remove.  The only hidden screws are behind the rear portion of the armrest.  That section of the armrest snaps into place on the door panel.

The trim around the door handle is pretty fragile.  It snaps into the door handle assembly with four small tabs: two on top and two on the bottom.  Push down on the top of the trim and push up on the bottom of the trim as you pry it away from the panel.

If you use a stiff 1 1/2" putty knife to pry away the outside edge of the door panel you should be able to loosen the panel clips without breaking anything.  Start at the bottom front corner and work away from that spot in both directions.

Sorry I can't give you anything more specific.  There are just too many door panels with too many variables to give you a detailed step-by-step explanation.
