Auto Glass: 2000 Taurus Rear Passenger Window Problem, ford taurus, passenger windows

Question
Hello - I recently bought a 2000 Ford Taurus SES and both rear passenger windows will only go half way down.  Any assistance you can provide on how to get them to go all the way down would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you.

Answer
Hello Danielle,

I can only think of two possible reasons your rear windows won't go all the way down.

1.  Many medium sized sedans do not have enough room inside the door to allow the window to go all the way down.  Typically though, the windows go about 3/4's of the way down rather than the 1/2 down you mention.

2.  Some vehicles are designed with rear windows that only go part way down as part of a child safety measure.  If your Taurus has this feature there may or may not be a means to "override" this feature.

In either case you should consult your owner's manual.  If you don't have the manual that came with the vehicle you can find several sources on-line that you can use.

Sorry I don't have a definitive answer for you.  Feel free to send a follow up question if there is something specific I can help you with.
