Auto Glass: Power Window Problem, 1997 toyota paseo, electrical diagnosis

Question
Hey 8) I hope you can help me with my problem, I have a 1997 Toyota Paseo with power windows. My drivers side power window works fine. I press the button and it goes up and down fine. The passenger side however will not move the button on the drivers side is stuck in the up position and will not go down and the button on passenger side will go down but the window does not move. I have had recent repairs to passenger side door due to an accident, I cant remember If I  have operated the passenger side window since these repairs. Any ideas what it could be.
Kind Regards Elle

Answer
Hello,

It is possible that the faulty driver side window switch is the reason your passenger side window switch won't move the window either.  However, there is really no way to know for sure without doing some electrical diagnosis involving both window switches and the window motor on the passenger door.

The least expensive alternative might be a salvaged driver side window switch.  Most salvage yards don't allow refunds on electrical parts so ask if they will let you come in and try the switch it to see if it works before you buy it.  It's a long shot, but if you are real sweet they may help you out.  If not, maybe they will give you the name of a good mechanic to help you solve your problem.

If you need more specific information, feel free to send a follow up question.
