Auto Glass: Rear Power window, master switch, window functions

Question
Hello How are you. My rear passenger side window goes up but not down whether I press master switch or door switch only goes down. Ive already checked the motor by sending power direct and went up and down. I used a test light on the plug that connects to the motor and it sends power through each wire when pressing up or down. But when I connect the the plug bak in motor then when pressing up instead of motor getting power and ground both wires throw out power. But disconnected one throws power and the other ground. Any ideas

Answer
Hi John,

I am not sure I completely understand what you have done so far.  However, let me give you some general suggestions that should help you trouble shoot the problem.

First move the right rear window switch to the left rear door.  If the problem follows, the single switch is bad.

If the single switch isn't the problem, I suspect you have a bad master window switch.  Another possibility is a broken wire between the master switch and the right rear door.

Remove the master window switch from the wiring connector.  Apply power to the "down" and then the "up" wires leading from the master switch to the right rear door.  If the right rear window functions normally, you know the wiring is not the problem.

Now reconnect the master switch and check the output on the same two wires.  You should only get power out of one wire at a time.  Be sure to check that pressing the switch button "down" doesn't cause power on the both the up and down wires at the same time and vice versa.

Good Luck,
