Auto Glass: Rear window off track, 2004 chrysler sebring, chrysler sebring

Question
I have a 2004 Chrysler Sebring Sedan, the back passenger window appears to be off track, I wanted to take a look at the inside to assess the situation, but I do not want to break anything trying to get the inside door panel off. Is there anyway you could tell me how to get this panel off?  Thanks in advance.

Answer
Hi Alicia,

Let me start by stating that I am assuming your window is falling down or will not go back up even though you can hear the motor try to run.  If I am wrong about this assumption, please send me a follow up question with all the details.

I doubt your window is off track.  The mechanism that moves your window is a cable style window regulator.  Most likely one of the cables is broken.  This mechanism is not repairable.  It must be replaced.  The part is only available from Chrysler.  Replacement is not an easy job for someone without the correct tools and a reasonable amount of experience.

If you want to try removing the panel, here are a few tips.

1.  Remove the screw cover and screw behind the door handle.

2.  Remove the screw cover and screw from the pull cup in the armrest.

3.  Remove the screws at the bottom of the door panel.

4.  Using a panel removal tool, release the panel retainer clips around the perimeter of the door panel.

5.  Lift the panel up slightly, then reach behind the panel to release the rod from the door release handle to the door latch.

6.  After the rod is released remove the electrical wiring connector from the window switch.

Let me know if I can help in any other way.
