Auto Glass: driver window is sticking, installing a new window, camry

Question
In my 2000 Camry the driver power window went down but would not come back up.  I took out the bolt on the edge of the door and it seemed to release the pressure and the window came back up.  I am hesitant to use the window in case it sticks again.  Is this something that I need to be concerned about, or did removing the bolt do the trick?

Answer
Hi Mark,

I doubt very much that removing the bolt had anything to do with your window going back up.  I suspect your window motor is beginning to fail.  I suggest you do the following to confirm my suspicions.

1.  Roll the window down about 4 or 5 inches then roll it back up.

2.  If you repeat this process 15 or 20 times, the motor will most likely stop working at some point.  Not to worry though.  If you let the motor cool down for about 10 minutes it will usually go right back up.

Once you have followed these steps, please look at any of the other questions I have previously answered regarding 1997 - 2001 Camry window problems.  They contain information about your options for installing a new window motor.

Ps.  Put the bolt back in before using the window again.
