Question
QUESTION: 1994 Camry v6 le 4 door sedan

I have just the window arm broken, do you know what I can do to salvage it?  Is it a seperate piece or with the reugulator as a whole?

Also after a few doors were exhanged after a wreck, the windows seem to go up and down slower than before, any corrections how should do on that?

thanks in advance

ANSWER: Hello Richie,

You will need to replace the complete regulator assembly.

Toyota sells the regulator portion separately from the motor.  It is a bit difficult to install the existing motor on the regulator, so, unless you have very good mechanical skills, you might consider paying someone with experience to install the new regulator.

You can also purchase a regulator and motor combination made by someone other than Toyota.  Many of these are poorly made, so be careful.  I recommend one from "Dorman."  I am sure an auto parts store in your area carries that brand.  It is part number 741-708.

The slow moving windows may be a sign of a weak window lift motor.  However, it may just be lack of lubrication.  You can buy a can of spray silicone at places like Home Depot, Lowe's etc.  DO NOT USE ANY OTHER TYPE OF LUBRICANT.  Roll the window down. Spray the silicone in the channels that the front and back edges of the glass slide up and down in.  Use enough silicone that so that it flows down the channel below the top edge of the door panel.  Roll the window up and down a couple of times and repeat the application.  If the windows continue to move slowly, it is probably a sign the the motors are coming to the end of their life.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

QUESTION: Im preety mechanic/electronic savy, I'm an electronics/pc technician by trade, and love working on cars. I already took took off the door panel, and door housing.

The window drops down by itself like its loose even when the motor and regulator was working, do you know what part I would have to replace?

Just yestereday, the window motor quit working and is making zipping clicks one time when you push the button up or down, obvioulsly the motor is blown, but should the regulator still be good?  Do you know the resistance or voltoge that you can test with a meter to assure the regulator is good?  Also do you know the voltage and resistance specs for the window motor as well?

thanks in advance,
