Auto Glass: Glass Leak, Foam core butyl tape, Window leak

Question
Hi Derek, I am John, I emailed you a few days ago. I have the 2002 Ford F150 with the leaking side glass. Today I repaired the worse one. I have been told that Ford used a foam cord type sealant to place the glass frame to the pinchweld. I found several areas where the foam cord had deteriorated. I assume that is where my leaks are from. With your suggestions I repaired the worst of the two today. Leak free with the hose test.

Thanks again,

John

Answer
Hi John,

Yes!  Ford used the cheaper Foam CORE Butyl but it is not as as available as the solid butyl and I think it is better without the foam!! Great Job!   Now if you put a little piece of the butyl on the end of the socket the 9mm nuts won't fall out of the end when you go to bolt them on!!!  ;)

Glad To Help!! Derek :) Do I get a nomination now?
