Auto Glass: Worn Regulator?, window regulator, cushions

Question
The power window in my 1987 F-150 will go down smoothly but in the up direction, it seems to "jump" and won't move up.  The motor appears to operate properly. Is this likely to be a worn gear on the motor, worn regulator, or something else.
Thanks

Answer
Hi Jim,

Something else: broken "gear cushions" or "gear inserts" inside the head of the motor.

The motor is turning, but motor gear that drives the window regulator is slipping because of the broken "cushions."

You didn't indicate how mechanically inclined you are or what tools you have available, so I'll wait for your follow up question if you think you might want to try removing the motor and installing new "cushions."
