Auto Glass: Window off track, pointers, ford

Question
Hi, I attenmpted to squeeze my arm through partially opened window on the drivers side rear passenger window of my 2004 Explorer. It slid down into the door off the track. I removed the panel and it feels as if the plastic broke that secures the window to the track. Can you tell me how to repair this?
Thanks for the consideration, Rand

Answer
Hi Rand,

Sorry to say there is no way to repair it.  It must be replaced.  Ford sells the part as an assembly consisting of the motor and cable regulator.  It retails for about $160.00.  The good news is that the current part is better than the one originally installed.

Replacement is relatively simple except for the fact the the glass is riveted to the regulator and should be re-riveted when the regulator is replaced.

If you want to attempt to do it yourself, I can give you some pointers, but it will have to wait until I have a bit more time.

Let me know.
