Auto Glass: Rear door window on 1997 AE110 Corolla, vent channel, vent glass

Question
Hi there, some low-life broke into my Corolla in the weekend, smashing the passenger-rear window.  I sourced a brand new window easy enough and have replaced windows in the past, so thought this would be a breeze.

After cleaning the area up, winding the winder down and removing the trim, I slid the window into the door cavity. I can slide it into the track closest to the hinge, however cannot seem to slide it into the rear track.  I have undone the two bolts in the door that hold this track in place, but it appears to be attached to the top somehow.

I almost feel as if I have to remove the quarter glass so that the rear track can angle back or something? But am hesitant to do so.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Answer
Hi Anthony.

You almost have it! The mystery vent channel screw is under the top molding that seals the door to the car itself. Remove this screw and remove vent channel and vent glass and your life will be much easier for doing so! Put glass in bottom of door but do not bolt in then vent channel, also do not bolt in but place in door at an angle to allow vent glass to be reinstalled and align everything and bolt together. Try some glass cleaner to make vent rubber cooperate and you should have no problems if you cleaned all the glass from the channels. Let me know how she comes out. Stay safe! Derek :]
