Auto Parts: Fuel pump relay, ford mustang v6, fuel pump relay

Question
I am needing to know where the fuel pump relay is on a 1996 Ford Mustang V6. We have alrteady replaced the fuel pump and it is still not starting.

Answer
Hello Margie,

I'm sorry to hear that your 1996 Ford Mustang V6 will not start, however in light of the information you've given me, which is somewhat vague, I do not feel that it is your fuel pump or the fuel pump relay.  It is a known problem with your type of car that the PATS (passive anti-theft system) in your vehicle, will not allow the vehicle start once it has been breached.

The passive anti-theft system in your car is reacting to the transponder chip in the key, it is my recommendation that before spending any more money on parts that are not needed, that you bring the vehicle to your local Ford dealer, make sure that you have the Vin number and proof of ownership, and have them check your PATS and reset it if necessary.  This should correct the problem of the vehicle not starting, if I am correct in my diagnosis, please let me know as I can provide you through my company with the bypass kit specific to your vehicle that will allow you to bypass the PATS so that this does not happen again in the future.

Is important to note here, that the bypass system that I can give you cannot be installed in your car until you have brought it to ford and have the Pats reset and the vehicle is able to start with the key. Once the vehicles able to start with the key if it is in fact the Pats system that is causing the problem we can get you the bypass kit and install it into your car or provide you technical support if you wish to install yourself and this problem will not happen again.

If you feel that my diagnosis is wrong and you still need to know where the fuel pump relay is on your vehicle please let me know and I'll be more than happy to provide that information to you.

I wish you the best of luck with your problem, please keep me advised of your progress, and let me know how you make out with Ford and whether or not it is a Pats issue.

Good luck.

Thank you
