Auto Parts: fuel pump, diesel engine service, chief reasons

Question
Thanks for y'alls respond on previous question. Now I need to know where I can purchase a fuel pump for a 203 Chevy HD 2500 with a 6.6 duramax diesel engine. I need the one that goes under the intake manifold. Here in this area the cost is over $1200.00 for this pump. I'm a teacher and don't make that much.
Thanks

Answer
What you are referring to is the injection pump.  It is, essentially, a high-pressure pump/distributor.  It times the injection of fuel into the cylinders.  It is also one of the chief reasons diesel engines cost more to make.  Your best bet would be to take the pump to a diesel engine service provider (every decent-sized town has one) and get them to repair it.  It will certainly be less expensive than buying a new one.
