Auto Parts: gas tank keys, careful application, door key

Question
do i need a locksmith to open my gas tank on a 92 roadmaster?

Answer
It should open with the door key.  If it no longer works for some reason, you can open it with a very careful application of a slim-jim (door jimmy).  Do be careful, though, the thing isn't real strong and could be easily damaged.  A locksmith could do it; you might want to let him go ahead and install a new cylinder.  Have him key it to match the door key and your problems are solved.

If you are talking about a locking cap (not a locking fuel door) just jam a large screwdriver in the center and spin out the cap.  Then buy a new one and don't lose the key (they come with two, stash one somewhere).
