Auto Parts: NISSAN SUPER CHARGER, nissan frontier sc, competent mechanic

Question
Hello I have a 2001 Nissan Frontier SC that has a v-6 that is Super Charged. This feature has been a HUGE thorn in my side. so first any upside you could mention to me would make me feel better. As the Super unleaded and such just kills me. Anyway my question is lately I have had a rattle at idle and initial start up. I am told it is coming from my SC. The truck has had its Timing belt etc.. Done already and has 119k on it. Is there any common problem you have heard with this rattle? Is it maybe just a pulley? B/c as of now I am saving for a whole new SC as the local mechanic has told me that it does still work but he is 99% sure the rattle is coming form it.
Thanks for any info on this matter.

Answer
There are all sorts of places that a rattle could come from on an engine.  But if a competent mechanic has listened to it and hears the noise coming from the supercharger then that's what it probably is.  I have never even seen one of these supercharged Nissans.  I understand that Toyota did something similar around the same time.  Both were trying to combat the availability of much more powerful engines in the Explorer and Blazer but it didn't work very well.  I don't know if I'd save that money for a new supercharger or sell this truck and use the money to help get a newer more reliable one.
