Auto Parts: Auto Interchange parts, hollander interchange, dodge caravan

Question
I am wondering if any body can tell me where can I find a web site that gives me interchange parts list. For example, if I have a 2000 dodge caravan and I am looking for a fender to replace, what other model or year caravan model fender I can use.

Answer
It's called a Hollander interchange.  It is a service that they supply to the salvage yards, and they charge for it.  They have a website, but I don't think you want to be paying a lot of money for this information.  A friendly dealer could tell you which years the fender on your car fits, if he had the time and cared enough to do so.  Perhaps with all the Dodge dealers closing, you could find some of the parts books and information for sale at a flea market or on ebay.  But, unless you have a particular source for a fender in mind, just buy a fender from the local salvage yard (some of them prefer to be called recyclers, now)  they already have access to the information you need, and will sell you exactly what you need.  If you're dead set against a used fender, there are also suppliers in every major area who supply new body parts, mostly sourced in Asia, for popular American vehicles, sometimes cheaper than a used part.  However, I would go with the used part, 'cause it's made of better quality stuff, and we already know it fits a Caravan "cause it came off of one.  Most body men feel the same way, but are hamstrung by the insurance companies in what they can use.
