Auto Parts: Transmission, dodge grand caravan, hollander interchange

My 1999 3.3L dodge grand caravan Trans is bad.Abuddy has a 1997 3.0L Plymouth Voyager with a bad motor.I don't know where the part # is for the trans. Can Iuse the 97 trans in my 1999

    My best information is that they are different.  They are both the same model and type, but there are some differences, probably due to incremental improvements made over the two years separating them.  I would be tempted to check with a wrecking yard, if you know a friendly one who wouldn't mind taking the time, and get them to look in their Hollander interchange to see if a swap is possible.  My feeling is that a good mechanic could get it to work, but that a back-yard mechanic might run into unsolvable problems and just cost himself more money.  Good luck.
