Auto Parts: interior light bulb on tailgate door of 1997 Grand Voyager, blister packs, chrysler dealers

Question
I need a replacement bulb for the interior lights on the inside of a 1997 Grand Voyager rear door/tailgate, which I believe is similar to Dodge Caravans and Chrysler Town & Country vans.  The light housing says the replacement number of the bulb is 567 but I can't find ANY information of this light, or that specific bulb number online anywhere.  I just bought the van and there was no owner's manual.

I would also like to know if I can get this bulb anywhere.  I went to one auto parts store and they didn't have #567.

Answer
Well, here's the deal:  567 is the correct bulb for your vehicle's dome light and some of the courtesy lights.  But, the companies that make this bulb only sell it in boxes of 10 (which is how all bulbs used to be sold).  Because of this, no parts store will carry it, they only want to carry bulbs available in little blister packs that can be hung up on self-serve racks.  There are a lot of good reasons for this policy, I used to hate that I couldn't offer a needed product simply because it wasn't packaged properly.  So, there are two solutions to your problem.  First, you could go to a dealer.  Chrysler dealers are harder to come by than they used to be, but they would sell you the individual bulb (although at a high enough price that you might be able to buy a box of 10 somewhere else).  The other choice is to use a number 561 bulb.  They are identical in size, but the brightness is different.  I don't know if it would be brighter or dimmer, but it would be better than nothing, especially at night.  If it is brighter, keep an eye on the light housing and make sure that the bulb doesn't give off so much heat that it damages anything, although the chances of this with a bulb this small are negligible.
