Auto Parts: 2002 Suzuki Aerio Mass Air Filter Sensor problem, 2002 suzuki aerio, suzuki aerio

Question
I'm considering buying a used car, but it's current owner tells me that it has a mass air filter sensor (MAF) problem. I did some research and it looks like there could be a couple things wrong.

1) The MAF sensor is faulty. Something doesn't work and it will need to be replaced.

2)The wire that transmits temperature in the MAF sensor is dirty. This appears to be the most common problem.

Solutions:
1) The MAF and connecting parts will need to be replaced. This means that the MAF and other parts will need to be replaced. The MAF itself can be replaced for around $150, however the other parts apparently cost more.

2) If the wire is dirty, clean it off and it will work fine. (I think...)

So what I need to know is if there are any more possibilities, what more solutions would be, and any other general information you can offer. The vehicle is a 2002 Suzuki Aerio sedan. Thanks for checking this out. Your help is greatly appreciated.

Answer
The MAF itself is not repairable if it is truly bad.  The easiest thing to try is to take it out and clean the wires with a Q-tip and alcohol.  Just be careful around those wires, they can be easily broken - and if that happens, you'll definitely need a new part.
