Auto Parts: camaro hood selling?, rod hobby, auto parts stores

Question
I have an aftermarket camaro hood that needs very little body work. I have posted on craigslist and have gotten no replies. Where do I turn to if I am wanting to get paid something for this today? Thanks

Answer
One of the really great conundrums of the hot-rod hobby is getting rid of things that no longer want or need.  I have valuable items that I have advertised in many venues from ebay  to craigslist to the local paper, and I still have them 'cause nobody seems to want them.  In the case of a hood like this, I would keep posting it on craigslist every couple of days, and make sure you include the lists for the neighboring areas and at least one nearby big city (other than the one you live in, if you do).  Most people who cruise craigslist just look back a day or two, and usually only look once a week or so, so just listing once a week doesn't necessarily guarantee that they'll see your ad.  Also make sure that you spell everything right in the heading, and include as much info and as broad a description as will fit.
Now, if advertising won't work, you might try going around to all the auto parts stores in the area and see if they'll let you post the thing for sale.  Many of these stores have a little bulletin board as a courtesy to their customers.  This is also seen at local schools, supermarkets, and some liquor stores and taverns.  Make up a small flyer with large letters (too big a flyer might get taken down to make room for other flyers, or papered over).  And, since it is a body part, it wouldn't hurt to let the guys at all of the local body shops know you have the thing for sale.
Lastly, don't be too unrealistic about the price.  You are not going to get back what you paid for it, unless you were given it for free.  And the body shop, if they decide they want it, will only pay you about half of whatever the wholesale value might be, since they are not getting any sort of warranty or return policy.  Oh, and make sure whoever buys it from you pays cash, no matter how well you know them and trust them.  This is the kind of item that can disappear with no proof of the transaction; remember the motto: In God we trust, all others pay cash.
