Auto Parts: Volvo Station Wagon 850 1996, volvo station wagon, clutch pedal

Question
The clutch pedal has snapped into pices 3 times.  Each time it had to be welded.  Two different mechanics have said that Volvo no longer makes this part.  How can a auto company not make a part so it can be repaired?

Answer
Robin,

After a certain time period, manufacturers do indeed discontinue parts for older vehicles.  I looked up a dealer randomly through Google and called them on the phone.  They did list the part, $78.xx but was showing "unavailable/backorder".  I would bet that this part could be gotten from a dealer, but because it's not a common part, you may be waiting a bit before it would ship.  Go down to your local dealer and see what they say.
