Question
HELP PLEASE: 103,000 miles on my Jeep, Check gauges light was on and oil pressure low. Drove 2miles to Firestone and they changed the oil and told me filter was loose and leaking oil. I left the garage, drove 50 miles - same thing. Pulled over and called garage, they had me check oil and was full "go ahead and drive". On my way home last night, happened again. Within 20 miles, engine stalled and just quit running and I had it towed. What do you think?

Answer
I think you need to find someone better than a tire store to look at it.  There are lots of things that could be causing this problem, including possible damage from driving it without oil before.  The mileage is too low for the engine to be wearing out, so I'm sure something critical in the oil system has failed.  If the oil pressure is low, the computer will turn off the engine.  But the pressure has to get very low for this to happen.  You need to get someone to actually check the oil pressure with a mechanical gauge and go over the engine looking for leaks or problems.  Wouldn't hurt for them to drain the oil through a screen and look for debris, or cut open the old oil filter for the same reason.  I hope the engine is OK and it's something simple, but you need to find someone qualified and let them take a look at it.
