Auto Parts: cold air intakes effect on chevy engine., stock air filter, fuel atomization

Question
I am considering installing a K&N cold air intake on my 2004 1500 Chevy Suburban. I was wondering if it will hurt my engine in anyway?I want to install it for more HP and better Gas milage. Thank you for your time.

Answer
Provided that you use the proper kit designed for your truck, and install it properly, it should work like a charm.  I am a great believer in K&N's products.  You could probably get close to the same results by replacing the stock air filter with a K&N replacement.  I have done this on all of my cars and seen and felt measurable results every time.  It doesn't and can't hurt your car, either method you choose.  Something else that you should do is to use a high-strength injector cleaner three or four times a year.  Injector cleanliness has a great effect on fuel atomization, and hence on both economy and power.  The injector cleaner made by Redline is probably the best, I've found.
