Auto Parts: 1989 Mercedes 190e vacuum line broken, vacuum leaks, vacuum line

Question
The vacuum line by the drivers side wheel well is broken. From what my son can tell this one connects to the air pump, which causes the check engine light to come on.
I need to know if the car is still safe to drive, it has been driven and runs fine, He just does not want to cause any damage to the car. He says: may make the car not shut off right away when turning the key off. Vacuum leaks seem to cause the car not to shut off right away, may be why it had trouble starting as well.
There really aren't parts listed for the vacuum system it seems. I tried looking for them before and couldn't come up with much. That's why it needs to be a Mercedes mechanic, they are the only cars I know of that have such an extensive vacuum system. Appreciate your input. Thanking you in advance.

Answer
Yes your car will be fine, you'll just have that pesky check engine light on.  It's just an emissions item.

If it's just a hose, take your rotten one off and go down to your local auto parts store and match it up.  They sell vacuum hose by the foot.  Don't get ripped by a dealer on a simple item such as this if you don't have to.  :)
