Auto Parts: Toyota 4runner parts interchange, toyota 4runner parts, toyota 4runner

Question
I have a 93 and a 89 Toyota 4runner the 89 is 4wd the 93 is not. Both trucks have 3.0 v6 and auto transmissions. What parts will interchange on those trucks? I wrecked the 89 and need a new core support and was hoping the one off the 93 would fit

Answer
These trucks are basically the same truck, and most of the body parts are the same.  So, there's a decent chance that the core support from the 89 would fit the 93.  But, the difference between four wheel drive and two wheel drive may include the core support, as it has to attach to the frame in the same area as the front suspension.  That said, the core support only serves three functions: it mounts the radiator(hence the name core support), it anchors the front of the fenders, and it serves as the mounting point for the grille, headlights, and other front end body parts.  The trim level determines the type of headlights and so forth, but if they look the same, the should work.  Even if the part is different, I am sure someone reasonably clever could get it to attach to the frame, and that's really all you need to do before you re-attach all of the other bits.  Still, have you priced a new core support from Toyota?  Manufacturers try to keep the prices on crash parts down to make fleet costs look good, so you may find it more sensible to buy a new one.
