Auto Parts: Car battery test, 2005 kia spectra, kia spectra

Question
I have a 2005 Kia Spectra EX which still has the original battery in it. I had oil change done & when I picked up the car the mechanic said I needed a new battery based on a printout, which he handed me, from a Snap On EECS500 (a diagnostic tool I assume) which read "Battery Test-Replace Battery  Volts: 12.41V  Measured: 328CCA  Rating: 550CCA  Starter Test-Normal  Volts: 9.85V  Charging Test-OK  Volts: 14.30V.  Based on this do I in fact need a new battery? Thanks.

Answer
Joe,

I believe the scanner your mechanic is utilizing has the capability to completely test the battery.  In fact, he's doing you a service to let you know that your battery is on its way out.

If your battery is still cranking the motor over fine, I'd still use it for a bit but I'd also throw it on a shopping list for replacement in the near future.  OR, be one of those guys that needs a ride to work one of these cold mornings...how much is your time worth to you?  ;)
