Auto Parts: engine repair., auto parts america, advance auto parts

Question
pretty easy two part question.  My sister has a Daewoo Nubira.  I personally suspect the oil pump has gone out, or there is a clog preventing oil from flowing to the proper places of the engine.  Do you have any clue where i could get my hands on a repair manual for this car? Also, any idea if working on this oil pump will be just too much for someone with only average engine repair experience?

thank you!

Answer
Hi Marvin,

Average engine repair experience? I believe the oil pump in those Nubira engines is behind the timing cover. Replacing the pump shouldn't be an issue but resetting the time may be a roadblock.

To check for blockages, there are several oil-pressure ports that are plugged on that engine for testing purposes. The first is the sensor. Remove it and screw-in a gauge to determine if any oil pressure is present. If so, move on to the next port and check pressure there. If you lose pressure between ports, your blockage/leakage will most likely be within that area.

Repair manuals can be purchased at ANY local new auto parts supplier. NAPA, Advance Auto, Parts America, AutoZone, etc.

Looking for a reputable service technician? My advice on finding a good technician is: Steer clear of the dealership and 'chain' stores like Firestone, Sears, Pep Boys, Monro Muffler/Brake, Midas, etc. as they usually only employ ONE ASE Certified Tech just so they can say they do and chances are, that guy is the asst. manager or manager and is not in the store to diagnose/repair vehicles anyway. Find a service location in the link below or get some names out of the yellow-pages and do a drive-by. Garages that employ ASE Certified Technicians will be marked with the 'Blue-Seal' insignia. If unsure about whether a place employs Certified Techs, just ask to see their credentials. ALL ASE Certified Technicians will be PROUD to show and display their certificate(s).

Thanks for the question, I hope this information was helpful to you.
