Auto Parts: 2002 chevy tracker mass air flow, mass air flow sensor, mass air flow

Question
QUESTION: I have a 2002 chevy tracker 4x4 ZR2......my mechanic told me that the mass air flow sensor is bad..and that it will cost 1200 to replace because he can only get it with the throttle body...i can get the part for $160......can it be replaced separately?

ANSWER: Hi Suz,

As long as your Tracker has the 2.0L engine, yes the AFM can be replaced separate of the Throttle body. I have one here on a shelf, used and tested, I'll send to you for $90.00 which includes shipping to your door.

If you have the 2.5L or the 1.6L models, the AFM is an integral part of the throttle body assembly but I'm also showing the availability of those items in my facility FAR less expensive than what you have been quoted.

You may want to start looking for a new mechanic.

Give a call to the number listed below an ask for Rev.

Looking for a reputable service technician? My advice on finding a good technician is: Steer clear of the dealership and 'chain' stores like Firestone, Sears, Pep Boys, Monro Muffler/Brake, Midas, etc. as they usually only employ ONE ASE Certified Tech just so they can say they do and chances are, that guy is the asst. manager or manager and is not in the store to diagnose/repair vehicles anyway. Find a service location in the link below or get some names out of the yellow-pages and do a drive-by. Garages that employ ASE Certified Technicians will be marked with the 'Blue-Seal' insignia. If unsure about whether a place employs Certified Techs, just ask to see their credentials. ALL ASE Certified Technicians will be PROUD to show and display their certificate(s).

Thanks for the question, I hope this information was helpful to you.
