Auto Parts: 97 rear brakes, ford thunderbird, rear brakes

Question
problem getting brake cylinder to compress. we have tool to screw in and it seems to be turning clock wise but it is not compressing. this is a 97 ford thunderbird.

Answer
Candy,

Obviously your cylinder is stuck in the bore.  If compressing the cylinder with a c-clamp or compression tool doesn't work, try the opposite; push on the pedal and squeeze the piston out of the bore with brake pressure.

If your cylinder is stuck, I'd want to inspect the insides of the bore anyway.  A small rebuild kit (seals) will also be needed to finish the job.
