Auto Parts: 91 chev lumina, chev lumina, lumina apv

Question
hi, re 91 Lumina APV? The heater fan has stopped working. A mechanic I know leant me a brand new blower, which I plugged in, and still nothing was resolved. All fuses seem to be OK. Also I found where the resistor is located, tried a new one, still nothing. The fan indicator lights, on dashboard, always come on, so power appears to be there. Help! Is there a relay switch or online fuse anywhere? I know a little of the terminology, but believe me, I am totally lost here. Thanks

Answer
I don't have a schematic readily available for your vehicle, but there is a fan/blower relay for your heater motor.  I'd bet money that it's sitting in either of your fuse/relay boxes.  If you take the cover off and flip it over, you'll see which fuse/relay is which as it will be identified under the cover.

If you suspect a bad relay, swap it out with another relay of the same power rating out of that box.  Obviously you don't want to borrow a relay from somewhere that requires power when you turn the key on, so find something different.  See if your window motor relay or electric fan (for the engine) is the same amperage and use one of those.

Hope this helps.
