Auto Parts: 3.1L chevy, boat anchor, pep boys

Question
I recently picked up a 2000 malibu with a 3.1 v6 in it the car is loaded with everything but the kitchen sink(even has a sunroof)Problem is though the engine is locked up # 5 wrist pin seized. I thought about reringing it with a crank kit and new piston but the number 3 piston is awful sloppy in its hole so I figure I pretty much have a boat anchor on my hands.
Anyway, My question is with this being a 2000 how far back can I go and have everything bolt together. For instance I have a 93 lumina with a 3.1 in it. will the block and hopefully the heads too bolt up. I know the timing cover is different and the malibu has the aluminium oil pan on it where the lumina has a stamped steel one.
thanks for your time
Dave

Answer
Hi Dave,

your Malibu interchange goes from 2000 up to 2002 and the Lumina interchange is 1993 and 1994 for most applications. Sorry. Give a call to the number below and ask for Rev, he can hook you up with a nice engine for your car at a reasonable price including delivery.

Looking for a reputable service technician? My advice on finding a good technician is: Steer clear of the dealership and 'chain' stores like Firestone, Sears, Pep Boys, Monro Muffler/Brake, Midas, etc. as they usually only employ ONE ASE Certified Tech just so they can say they do and chances are, that guy is the asst. manager or manager and is not in the store to diagnose/repair vehicles anyway. Find a service location in the link below or get some names out of the yellow-pages and do a drive-by. Garages that employ ASE Certified Technicians will be marked with the 'Blue-Seal' insignia. If unsure about whether a place employs Certified Techs, just ask to see their credentials. ALL ASE Certified Technicians will be PROUD to show and display their certificate(s).

Thanks for the question, I hope this information was helpful to you.
