Auto Parts: 1985 ford mustang gt starter, pep boys, ford mustang

Question
i  replaced my starter....when i put the new one on, the car seemed to start up fine...2 days later I'm driving and i turn the corner and i thought i heard something come lose like a bolt hitting the pavement,,,i continued to drive to get gas..when i turned the car off to get gas i felt that it wasn't going to start...lol
low and behold it made an aweful sound like teeth were hitting together... why is it that this one bolt seems to not be holding the starter on...
thank you for your time

Answer
Hi Gretchen,

Starter bolts should always have Lock-tite (red) placed on the threads prior to installation. The starter is in a high-vibration area.

Don't ya hate that moment of clairvoyance, especially when it turns out you were right. I don't know who ya pissed-off, but it seems like Karma wasn't on your side that day. Good luck.

Looking for a reputable service technician? My advice on finding a good technician is: Steer clear of the dealership and 'chain' stores like Firestone, Sears, Pep Boys, Monro Muffler/Brake, Midas, etc. as they usually only employ ONE ASE Certified Tech just so they can say they do and chances are, that guy is the asst. manager or manager and is not in the store to diagnose/repair vehicles anyway. Find a service location in the link below or get some names out of the yellow-pages and do a drive-by. Garages that employ ASE Certified Technicians will be marked with the 'Blue-Seal' insignia. If unsure about whether a place employs Certified Techs, just ask to see their credentials. ALL ASE Certified Technicians will be PROUD to show and display their certificate(s).

Thanks for the question, I hope this information was helpful to you.
