Auto Parts: Windshield washer replacement tank, mercury cougar, water coolant

Question
2001 Mercury Cougar - Windshield Water tank leaking; No easy  access from top (water coolant blocks it) and  difficulty from underneath (removed mud guards/underside guards, but still could not get full access to see cause of leak so I can replace tank. I can not even find replacement tank on internet. Is this system and or tank available and will it be easy to replace in same location or should I just by-pass and buy another system and install elsewhere?.

Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Answer
Hi Orlando,

You may have to remove a piece of body to gain proper access to some of the fasteners. The fender has got to go.

Buy used if possible as the dealership probably asks a mint for that piece of plastic and if possible and trying to save money, pull it yourself from a salvage yard.

I may be able to get one of them for you too but you'll want to check locally first to save shipping costs from Pa.

Looking for a reputable service technician? My advice on finding a good technician is: Steer clear of the dealership and 'chain' stores like Firestone, Sears, Pep Boys, Monro Muffler/Brake, Midas, etc. as they usually only employ ONE ASE Certified Tech just so they can say they do and chances are, that guy is the asst. manager or manager and is not in the store to diagnose/repair vehicles anyway. Find a service location in the link below or get some names out of the yellow-pages and do a drive-by. Garages that employ ASE Certified Technicians will be marked with the 'Blue-Seal' insignia. If unsure about whether a place employs Certified Techs, just ask to see their credentials. ALL ASE Certified Technicians will be PROUD to show and display their certificate(s).

Thanks for the question, I hope this information was helpful to you.
