Answer
Hi Mitch,

Or should I say 'speed-racer'. Don't take what I have to say here personally, I answer ALL questions like this the same way...

It is illegal for me to give you advice affecting emissions status of your vehicle. NO ASE Technician can or will.

Besides that, at what cost to you? before that baffle-muffler allows your car to go 20K miles, you'll be replacing the cylinder head(s). Modern engine require backpressure because there is no lead in the fuel to lubricate the exhaust valve seat and with severely reduced backpressure, such as what that aftermarket piece of crap will give you, you'll end up burning valves. Plus, you'll have to re-install the original mufflers every year if your state requires yearly inspection because 'cherry-bombs' are not legal for STREET use. And even if you'd happen to pass that one by them, if your state requires emissions inspection, yours will look like a Peterbuilt to the emissions sniffer. And if that doesn't deter you, imagine how it would be to just cut your fuel mileage in half, replace the OEM equipment with that aftermarket junk and you'll find out along with how much it costs to replace the cat or cats every two years because you've packed them full with all the hydrocarbons and unburnt fuel you'll be dumping into the exhaust. If that is the price you are willing to pay for a 2% horsepower increase across the board, you should have your head examined. You're not running in NASCAR here so the minimal power increase is not going to even be noticed by you.

Looking for a reputable service technician? My advice on finding a good technician is: Steer clear of the dealership and 'chain' stores like Firestone, Sears, Pep Boys, Monro Muffler/Brake, Midas, etc. as they usually only employ ONE ASE Certified Tech just so they can say they do and chances are, that guy is the asst. manager or manager and is not in the store to diagnose/repair vehicles anyway. Find a service location in the link below or get some names out of the yellow-pages and do a drive-by. Garages that employ ASE Certified Technicians will be marked with the 'Blue-Seal' insignia. If unsure about whether a place employs Certified Techs, just ask to see their credentials. ALL ASE Certified Technicians will be PROUD to show and display their certificate(s).

Thanks for the question, I hope this information was helpful to you.
