QUESTION: 2001 automatic accent 2 doors

Answer
Hi Presh,

I'm pretty sure that was a safety feature. To stop folks from pulling the ignition key out of the vehicle while it is operating (I had a friend of mine do that to open his glove box while cruising down the freeway and ended up on his roof, so it does happen...) the manufacturers added an ignition on-lock. The solenoid that controls the release mechanism is controlled by the shifter. I'm not exactly sure how as I've never had to dive into one before but I suspect the three cut wires are a great place to start looking.

I wish I were able to help you more.
