Auto Parts: headlamps, lamp bulbs, beam indicator

Question
I have 4 headlamps on my Dodge. (two pair) The outside two will work on dim. When I pull the dimmer switch those two lamps will go to "bright" and the "high beam" indicator light comes on. But the two inner headlamps do not come on as they should. I assume the problem is not the dimmer switch. I don't see how the two inner lamp bulbs would both go out at the same time. I have just gotten this car and do not know if at one time one of the two inner headlamps was still working. It seems logical that they could both burn out within a few months of each other so I guess that's possible. Do you have any "just as likely" possibilities before I go out and buy bulbs?   Thank you.

Answer
Hi Ray,

No, I can't think of any other likely scenarios but you CAN test the bulb before replacing it. I'd let you know how, but I don't know what year-range we are working with here.

Thanks for the question, I hope this information was helpful to you.
