Auto Parts: electrical, pontiac fiero gt, 1985 pontiac fiero gt

Question
I have a 1985 pontiac fiero GT and was tryig to up the power w/o leaving a crater in my pocket. so i was thinking an electric supercharger. I see that they only produce 2lbs of boost so i was thinking hook a 36V powersource to the 12V motor on that supercharger. Can you power a 12V motor w/ a 36V powersource? keep in mind it will not b used all the time just when i want it.

Answer
Hi Jeremy,

As silly as i think this question is, I guess I'll still offer some sort of answer.

12volt motors are designed to run on 12 volts, not 36 volts so doing so surely will burn-up that motor in no time flat. If that SC is able to produce 2lbs of pressure, I don't see why you'd think you need more. 2lbs of additional boost in your engine will nearly double the amount of power it can produce. Have the cylinder head shaved, that creates higher compression as well as lower combustion chamber cc's. Index the spark plugs. You'd be surprised by the added responsiveness. Add a K&N air filter, use the lowest weight oil your engine requires are just a few simple things that can also be done to increase power.

Thanks for the question, I hope this information was helpful to you.
